Bio

Leah Cooper is an artist who is fascinated by the extraordinary world that exists within the smallest detail of the ordinary.  A quick trip to the end of her street can often results in a pocket full of urban flotsam and jetsam. She is a collector, maker, and curator; her work employs drawing as a strategy in order to investigate the influence of visual information on a viewer’s subjective perception of object and place.

Leah recieved her MFA in Studio Art from MICA, Maryland Institute College of Art in 2009 and her BA in Studio Art from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1989 and has lived and worked in Baltimore since. Leaving undergraduate school as a painter Leah has spent the last 20 years steadily transitioning from image maker to object maker and finally to site responsive installation artist. She has shown in the mid altantic region at the Creative Alliance, the Montpellier Arts Center, and RTKL Architecture Firm.
